OPTION 2: Appeal Penalty Order

If you disagree with your Penalty Order, you may request an Appeal Review by a Screening/Hearing Officer who have the authority to Confirm, Vary or Cancel the Penalty Order.

Book a review by a Screening and/or Hearing Officer:

  • Online: ojpc.ca
  • By Phone: 1-877-748-1025

The appeal process involves two steps:

  • STEP 1: Request a Review by a Screening Officer: A vehicle owner may request an appeal of their Penalty Order by requesting a review with a Screening Officer, no later than 30 days after the penalty order was deemed served.
  • STEP 2: Request a Review by a Hearing Officer: After the Screening Officer reviews the Penalty Order, a vehicle owner may appeal the decision of a Screening Officer by requesting a review with a Hearing Officer no later than 30 days after the Screening Officer has provided their decision. A Hearing Officer's decision is FINAL.

Do you have accessibility needs that require in-person accommodation?

Screening Reviews and Hearing Reviews are available upon request by phone or virtually. Please contact 1-877-748-1025 or ase@ojpc.ca.

Documentation for Appeals

Submit all supporting documents at least 7 days before your scheduled review date. The vehicle's registered owner must provide credible evidence.

Failing to submit required documentation may result in the Penalty Order being upheld.
